Our Products (Personal - Industrial - Household & Automotive)
Although UK-based, Wear Valley Aerosols is a supplier to shave gel customers around the World. We have a particularly strong presence amongst branded and private-label customers in both Europe and North America - two of the most demanding and segmented markets for shave gels.
The sophistication of these markets demands that we stay at the forefront of developments. As a result, we offer formulations to satisfy all market segments, from esoteric well-being niches to high-volume value-based product propositions. Because we specialise in bag-on-valve technology, WVA is able to offer both aluminium monobloc and tin-plate shave gel cans in sizes ranging from 50ml up to 300ml.
Bag-on-valve technology also brings useful environmental attributes - our shave gel formulations utilising the bag-on-valve technologies have very high environmental credentials with less than 3% VOC content.
Our experience in the US marketplace means that we are familiar with the opportunities for product comparison and the requirements for independent testing of our formulations against branded products. With this in mind, we have developed formulations to provide matching for most brands on the market.
Wear Valley Aerosols fills significant quantities of Aerosol Sun Protection Sprays. Whilst this is a very established market in the USA, aerosol sun protection is still developing in Europe and shows potential for growth.
We offer formulations for both budget and premium packages with typical SPF formulas being 15, 20, and 30. These are available in both a dry oil and aqueous lotion, combined with an Aftersun. These products are typically packed in aluminium monobloc and there is the option to improve the communication of brand values with the use of shaped cans.
Our depth of experience in self-tanning products means that WVA are able to offer a variety of solutions for the self-tan market. Our services in the self-tan product area range from producing short runs for test marketing purposes to custom formulation, prior to full production runs. We have solutions that would suit can sizes from 50ml through to the standard 150ml - even a salon-sized 300ml.
Premium market customers should note that Wear Valley Aerosols is at the forefront of colourless self-tanning formulations that do not cause the problems associated with overspray.
Control Our anti-spatter products place Wear Valley at the forefront of weld control technologies and our flagship Pre-Weld product is used around the globe by some of the biggest fabrication shops and global industrial brands.
Bag-on-valve technology allows us to offer safe product solutions that require no ‘carrier’ fluids - that means compliance, 100% active product in the can and no work-piece contamination. But that’s not all. Our unique micro emulsion enables us to atomise the maximum amount of high temperature-tolerant oil, giving more effective coverage from both an operator and cost perspective.
When you add-in it’s lower environmental impact, biodegradability, it’s easy to see why customers never return to using conventional anti-spatters again.
WVA is active in the formulation of metalworking fluids that utilise water-based and solvent-based preparations for a variety of cleaning and lubricating applications.
In markets where cost-consciousness is a key driver, we’re able to offer extremely competitive lubricating oils using CO2 as an aerosol propellant. However, for applications where product performance is a strong proposition, we would always recommend the use of the BOV aerosol system, not least because it delivers the added advantage of true 360-degree spraying.
WVA has become very active in both the household and automotive sectors in recent years. In fact, we’ve built up experience of formulating and filling an incredibly diverse range of aerosol product types.
Our household formulations centre on cleaning products, including a variety of kitchen surface cleaners, fabric cleaner aerosols. However, we’ve also filled room fragrance sprays and even adhesive removal sprays.
As you’d expect, we’re able to provide formulations for all segments of the aerosol market from super-premium to value-proposition. Wear Valley’s experience in the automotive field covers most of the product types you’d expect, principally fabric, trim and leather cleaners, de-icers and a multitude of lubricating and oil-based aerosols. Of course, the automotive sector is a good example, particularly in workshop environments, where bag-on-valve technology provides additional levels of safety and compliance.
Wear Valley Aerosols originally focused on the development and filling of post-foaming gels and liquids, primarily for the personal care market. The key products sectors in which WVA has developed bag-on-valve applications are shave gels and sun care. With growing segmentation in these sectors, WVA produces formulations that fulfil the needs of a variety of market positions, including premium, price-fighter (tertiary brand), private label and well-being.
Today, this group of products remains at the heart of the company’s growth, largely as a result of international expansion in shave gels.
Over the past 5 years, Wear Valley Aerosols has seen dramatic growth in formulations for industrial markets. This is the result of bag-on-valve technology meeting many of the newer health and safety (and environmental) requirements being placed upon industrial workplaces - it also has major cost benefits, too!
WVA is now a significant formulator and filler of lubrication and specialist cleaning fluids for use in welding and other industrial processes. All industrial filling is, of course, separated from fills for consumer end-use
One of the distinct advantages of partnering with WVA is that all bag-on-valve aerosol filling takes place at our single-site ISO-certified UK plant. Capacity at the site has continued to grow with a third filling line commissioned in 2007. As we are committed to meeting the future demands of our customers, further capacity is planned for next year.
Wear Valley Aerosols is a trading division of WV Associates Ltd and sits alongside other interests in industrial consumables and abrasives.
Wear Valley Aerosols takes a proactive approach towards compliance. We recognise that, whilst systems such as ISO9001 require significant efforts to implement and maintain, they provide substantial reassurance to customers and create effective internal systems.
As a result, we have a fully audited QA system in place that meets the ISO9001 and ISO22716 Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practice. In addition, we operate to specific requirements for the aerosols industry, including standards in non-UK territories.
Of course, for many customers, our focus on bag-on-valve technology provides automatic compliance in many usage situations.
Our aerosol technologies are inherently less damaging than most traditional aerosol solutions. However, we recognise that we, and other partners in the supply chain, operate in a manner that produces an environmental impact that we have a duty to manage.
As a result, we have an ongoing responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and supply chain, and we aim to surpass legal requirements and industry standards.
In order to turn words into actions, we adhere to corporate environmental policies and have internal systems based on key performance indicators that aim to reduce our carbon footprint, energy usage and resource intensity.
We work hard to maintain safe workplaces, regardless of where we work, and the processes involved.
To achieve high standards, we supplement the legal requirements placed upon WV Associates Ltd, with our own internal systems that have been developed over many years.
We have comprehensive internal safety management procedures. These include policy manuals, regulatory compliance checks, site action plans and risk assessments.
To complement this, we maintain training procedures and retain external expert consultants to guide the development of our Health & Safety policies.
All accidents and incidents are reported internally & preventative measure taken, where appropriate. Where required, we also report to, and work with, local regulatory authorities.
We encourage a ‘safety first’ culture among our employees, including the sharing of concerns and best practice.
We regard it as essential that our products are safe to use.
We comply with the Dangerous Preparations and Cosmetic Products Directives and with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) legislation.
Throughout our supply-chain, we ensure the maintenance of product safety standards, including appropriate labelling and packaging.
None of our product safety tests involve the use of animals
